Tottenham fans urge Pochettino to start 24-year-old for this wasted player against Stoke

By Amir Mir

Tottenham take on Stoke at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon – and fans on Twitter want Kevin Wimmer to start the game.

The 24-year-old has received backing from the supporters to start the Premier League game as they have urged Mauricio Pochettino to pick the Austrian ahead of Eric Dier.

England international Dier started the club’s last game which saw them being knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Gent on Thursday night.

Dier was at fault for two of the goals conceded on the night as one fan now believes he is wasted at the back.

Pochettino opted to field three at the back last time out as he can do the same against Mark Hughes’ side.

One fan believes that their manager has given up on Wimmer as he highlighted the small squad the north London outfit currently have.

Many stated that they would start Wimmer in a back three as the likes of Harry Kane, Kyle Walker and Victor Wanyama were the other popular picks to start.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Wimmer has only played nine games in all competitions for his side, helping his team secure two clean sheets during those encounters.

He last played for the club during their 2-2 draw against Manchester City in January where he was substituted at half-time with City, at the time, leading the game 2-0.

Now, the Austrian will be hoping his manager listens to the supporters and starts him for the weekend match as Spurs look to stamp their authority on the top four.
