Tottenham guru lambasts 'irritating' Todd Boehly after Chelsea deal agreed

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly should “fade into the background” after multiple behind-the-scenes updates from the club.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Chelsea were set to recruit Red Bull Salzburg’s Christoph Freund as their new sporting director this week before, as per The Guardian (20 September), he had a late change of heart.

The Blues have also, as per The Telegraph (20 September), sacked commercial director Damian Willoughby for sending ‘inappropriate messages’ to an agent.

Thomas Tuchel has also been replaced after a poor start to the season.

Wenham insists he is not the only football fan who is “irritated” by the new Chelsea owner and his recent decisions.

“I noticed Chelsea fans singing Thomas Tuchel’s name during their last game so they clearly have strong feelings towards him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Boehly seems to be coming up with these ridiculous ideas every day that he seems to be picking out of a hat.

“I’d rather he faded into the background, to be honest. He seems to be coming out with bizarre ideas on a daily basis.

“He has been on about sending money through the football pyramid. There are plenty of ways to do that, starting with not forking out for tifos with your face on for your home league games.

“He really irritates me already and I’m sure other fans feel the same way. Chelsea’s start to the season has been very disappointing.

“They haven’t even played Milan yet and they only have one point from two games in the Champions League.

It’s looking a bit worrying for them to be honest with you.”
