Kieran Maguire: Tottenham are ’10 years’ ahead of rest of Premier League
Tottenham are 10 years ahead of the rest of the Premier League in terms of their consideration of environmental issues.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest eco-friendly initiative from the North London club.
Spurs revealed on 6 September that their home match against Chelsea on 19 September would be the world’s first major zero-carbon football game.

The club have partnered with Sky to take part in the United Nations’ COP26 scheme, which aims to accelerate reduced emissions.
Tottenham have also declared themselves “the Premier League’s greenest club” and have set up several environmental community schemes.
Maguire hailed Spurs for being ahead of their time and at the forefront of eco-friendly initiatives.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I suspect if we have this conversation in 10 years time, environmental issues will be very significant in terms of all decision making.
“Both Spurs and Chelsea are progressive clubs when it comes to vital issues like environmental and social issues.

“You can see the benefits to them from a public relations perspective. But I also think it’s indicative of a genuine commitment from them.
“It goes against the grain of a 48-team World Cup that’s held every two years, like FIFA are planning at the moment.”
