Tottenham idol 'amazed' as Yves Bissouma transfer details emerge

Tottenham got “an amazing deal” from Brighton for Yves Bissouma, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the “brilliant” 25-year-old who will “slot in perfectly” at Spurs.

On Friday (17 June), Tottenham announced the signing of Bissouma on a four-year deal.

According to Sky Sports, Antonio Conte’s side agreed a £25million fee with Brighton for the midfielder, with a further £10million dependant on performance related add-ons.

The Mali international attracted interest from a number of clubs but chose Spurs because of his desire to play in the Champions League.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the finances involved, Robinson said: “That is an amazing deal for Spurs.

“Bissouma is a top player. He has proven himself in the Premier League. Brighton were inconsistent last season but he was brilliant throughout.

“He was heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa in January. The fact that he has moved to Spurs shows how far he came in the last half of the season.

“He is a box-to-box midfielder who has such good defensive qualities. When you look at the way Conte plays, he has two sitting midfielders. Bissouma will slot in perfectly. I think he’ll do well.”

Bissouma was one of Brighton’s standout players in the 2021-22 campaign.

He made 28 appearances across all competitions for Graham Potter’s side.

In other news, a Tottenham expert has claimed ‘plenty of clubs’ want to sign Troy Parrott after a ‘brilliant’ development this month.
