Tottenham in hunt for international double-act as Poch eyes PL title assault - report
Tottenham Hotspur are in the hunt for a duo of Portuguese internationals this summer with Gelson Martins and Cedric Soares both attracting the interest of the fourth-placed side, according to a report.
The Mirror claim that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to add quality to his squad in order to launch a bid for the Premier League title next season.
Poch is looking to improve down the flanks and Sporting Lisbon’s Martins would prove an excellent acquisition, due to his versatility the 22-year-old is able to play down the right or left.
Meanwhile Southampton right-back Soares has impressed for the Saints and should the south coast side face relegation from the Premier League, he is likely to be one of the players to exit St Mary’s.
The two will come at a premium though, with Martins’ contract at the Primeira Liga outfit not due to expire until 2022, and Soares’ not until 2020.

Spurs are in definite need of improvements down the right of defence with both Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier flattering to deceive at times. Despite Saints poor campaign, Soares has been one of their stand-out performers and we would consider him an upgrade on what they already have. Martins too would be a step up and would suit Poch’s philosophy. And that’s not forgetting that at 22-years-old, the Sporting Lisbon attacker has plenty more years in the tank if the North Londoners are going to splash the cash on the winger.
