Tottenham insider slams 'really unfair' fans for scapegoating Tanganga
John Wenham has leapt to the defence of Japhet Tanganga amid mounting criticism from some Tottenham fans.
Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, insists the defender has money in the bank after a strong start to the season.
Tanganga, 22, was criticised for losing his man as Morecambe took a shock lead against Tottenham during last Saturday’s (8 January) FA Cup third round clash.
He also played the full 180 minutes across two legs in a 3-0 aggregate loss to Chelsea in the League Cup semi-finals.
Amid mounting criticism for the defender, Wenham was quick to remind some fans of his strong start to the season.
“Tanganga has had a disappointing week,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He has more money in the bank with me and that should be the case with some of the fans who have been a bit unfair in their criticism this week.
“He came through the academy and counts as homegrown and he’s put in some brilliant performances this season.
“Tanganga did very well up against Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling on the opening day.
“He has also done well in other big games this season he has just had a disappointing week.
“He’s still a young player and he can bounce back and learn from this.
“I think some of the criticism for him has been really unfair.”
Tanganga has made nine appearances in the Premier League this season.
He also featured heavily in the club’s League Cup campaign as Antonio Conte failed to guide his side to a second successive final.
