Tottenham insider tips Brighton to sign Rodon after source’s Newcastle reveal

Brighton could sign Tottenham defender Joe Rodon to replace Dan Burn amid interest from Newcastle.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

A Spurs source told Football Insider on 4 December that Rodon has his heart set on leaving the north Londoners, either on loan or permanently, this month in pursuit of game time.

This came before this site revealed (26 January) Newcastle have switched their attention to signing Burn after their move for Diego Carlos reached an impasse.

Should Burn leave Brighton, Wenham claims Rodon could be targeted to replace him.

“I find it absolutely bizarre there’s no interest in him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He consistently plays brilliantly for Wales and when given the chance he has done well for us.

“I think he would do a decent job for most of the bottom 12 Premier League clubs to be completely honest.

“I look at Brighton and the fact he worked with Potter at Swansea.

“When they sold Ben White in the summer I was surprised Brighton didn’t push harder for Rodon, I know there was interest.

“I think something could still happen. Rodon is probably the most likely player to leave.

“That Brighton thing sticks in my mind. If Brighton were to lose a defender through injury or if they sell someone, I can see that happening.”

Rodon has only made seven appearances for Spurs this season.

Only one of those outings has come in the Premier League.
