Former Tottenham defender Ledley King has boldly claimed that Mauricio Pochettino can lead his team to Premier League glory in the near future.
Spurs have been involved in the top flight title race for the past two seasons, finishing third behind surprise champions Leicester and fierce rivals Arsenal in 2016, before ending the campaign as runners-up to a rampant Chelsea last time out.
During this time the club have had a number of stars emerge to help their push for glory, with Harry Kane finishing as top scorer for two successive seasons, while Dele Alli has been a revelation in the centre of the park.
However King, who retired from football aged 31 through injury, believes that it is the man on the sidelines who will lead the club to league success, with Pochettino having been with the club for two seasons since joining from Southampton.
“We have a young team with a great manager and I really believe we are going to win the League very soon because everything is in place,” King said, as quoted by the Mirror.
“He (Pochettino) can get the best out of players and get them performing at their highest levels.
“You can see the players respect him and they are the fittest team in the League already.
“They’ve also been the most consistent team over the past couple of seasons and we are definitely onto something special.”
Tottenham lost just four matches last season, the best record in the league, while they also scored more goals (86) and conceded less (26) than any other side.
However, despite their fine record, the finished seven points behind Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, who won 30 of their 36 games, in comparison to Tottenham’s 26 victories.
Their last league title came back in 1961, their second overall, in a season in which they completed a double by also securing the FA Cup.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs are in a race with Arsenal to land this contract-rebel from one of their title rivals.
