Tottenham make decision on meeting new Tyler Dibling asking price

Tottenham are keen on Southampton’s Tyler Dibling but will not meet his reported £55million price tag, sources have told Football Insider.

It has been widely reported that the Saints will hold out for around £55million for the 19-year-old attacking wonderkid.

Spurs were keen to strike a deal for Dibling in January and sources say they are likely to take part again this summer in what is an open race for his signature.

However, it is believed the north London club are not willing to meet his price tag as things stand.

Price tag tumbles after Man City ‘unrealistic’ claim

A deal for the England Under-21 international would fit Tottenham‘s model of signing top young talent to play in the first team.

This approach has seen the likes of Brennan Johnson, Micky van de Ven, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray make an impact since arriving in the capital over the past two seasons.

Football Insider revealed last month (4 April) that Dibling’s original price tag of £100million was deemed ‘unrealistic’ by Man City, who were linked with a move for the teenager earlier this year.

Dibling is under contract at St. Mary’s until 2027 but is expected to leave this summer, and it is thought Tottenham’s long-running interest in the winger could give them an advantage.

The Devon-born wideman has also been closely watched by Manchester United, Liverpool and several Bundesliga sides in recent months.

Tottenham may struggle to keep hold of Romero

Meanwhile, one player that Spurs might struggle to keep hold of this summer is centre-back Cristian Romero, with Atletico Madrid keen to land him despite Tottenham’s Champions League qualification.

Romero, who started last week’s Europa League armband as Spurs captain, joined on an initial loan from Juventus in 2021 before making his deal permanent a year later.

Sources say Atleti boss Diego Simeone is a “huge admirer” of his countryman, who will be out of contract in June 2027.
