Not to be mistaken with the Amadou Haidara who has recently had his contract ripped up by Leeds United, this is FC Red Bull Salzburg’s Haidara – the man who has been setting the Europa League alight.
According to The Sun, the central midfielder has caught the attention of Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino who sees him as a star of the future.
The 20-year-old Malian international has impressed for the Austrian outfit in their pursuit of European success, and will have undoubtedly caught the eye of a number of other potential higher level suitors.
With Moussa Sissoko, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, and Christian Eriksen amongst the names occupying the centre of the park for the Lillywhites, competition for a place in the first team is fraught.
But with Sissoko and Dier often the two on the receiving end of pelters from the Spurs faithful, it’s a position that could benefit from an upgrade.
The midfielder has starred against Marseille, Sturm Gratz, Real Sociedad, and Borussia Dortmund, helping to knock the German giants out of the competition – no mean feat for a club the size of Salzburg.
Daniel Levy will have to consider that with still three years remaining on Haidara’s contract at the club, Spurs will have to pay accordingly, but it would be a brilliant purchase.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs will win the PL if they snap up top-flight Portuguese ace tearing up the league.
