Tottenham news: Expert tips secret weapon to sign after £50m+ news - 'just like Jack Grealish'
Noel Whelan has suggested Richarlison’s ability to win fouls is another string to his bow Tottenham should consider ahead of a summer move.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, compared the 25-year-old’s awareness in dangerous situations to that of Man City star Jack Grealish.
According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein (11 June), Tottenham are interested in signing Everton star Richarlison this summer.
The Toffees are said to want more than £51million for the Brazil international – who has two years left to run on his Goodison Park contract.
As per FBRef, Richarlison was the fourth-most fouled player in the Premier League for the 2021-22 season – behind Wilfried Zaha, Ivan Toney, and John McGinn.
Whelan tipped the forward to strike up a valuable partnership with reported Spurs target and dead-ball specialist Christian Eriksen.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “If you’re going to bring someone like Eriksen in, then why not get someone alongside him who can fall on the floor like a professional?
“He can win you those set-pieces in the right areas – just like Jack Grealish has done in the past few seasons.
“He’s very good at getting in the right positions and drawing the fouls.
“I don’t like the way he goes about his game sometimes, but there is a real player there.
“There are two sides to Richarlison. There’s an excellent footballer, and there’s also a side to him which drives people absolutely nuts.
“If it means winning fouls outside the box and giving someone the chance to put quality into the box, then it’s going to end up with Spurs winning more games.”
