Tottenham news: Mills swipes at Eric Dier amid ‘massive’ claim
Danny Mills has insisted Eric Dier cannot claim he is playing his best football because Tottenham are so inconsistent.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England full-back admitted Dier may work his way back into the England squad in time for the World Cup because of Gareth Southgate’s “massive concerns at centre-half”.
The 28-year-old told the London Evening Standard on Monday (21 March) he has never shown the consistency he has like this season.

Despite his resurgent form, he was left out of Southgate’s squad which included an out of sorts Harry Maguire and an uncapped Marc Guehi.
Asked for his verdict on Dier’s form, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Before the last few games didn’t they go on a run of four losses in five games?
“Being in the form of your life means doing it over six months of half a season. I was there when they lost to Burnley and that wasn’t that long ago.
“Form of your life is stretching it a little bit. He might have played well in the last two or three games but I’m not sure that means you can say that.
“There are massive concerns for England at centre-half. The options are very, very limited.
“If he can keep playing well between now and the end of the season and starts next season well, there’s every chance he can get a recall.
“Gareth’s options at the moment are players who aren’t playing much, those out of form or young and untested.”

Dier won the last of his 45 England caps in November 2020 and has captained his country on occasion.
He has now played 310 games for Spurs and is under contract in north London until the summer of 2024.
In other news, Tottenham have set their sights on signing a £50million+ valued centre-back who Conte loves.
