Exclusive: Tottenham open talks to loan out attacker amid multiple club interest
Tottenham have opened talks about securing a new loan deal for striker Kazaiah Sterling, Football Insider can reveal.
The striker, 21, is set to return to Spurs early after they reached an agreement with Doncaster Rovers to terminate his season-long loan at the midway point, which was first revealed by Football Insider at lunchtime on Wednesday.
This was subsequently corroborated by Doncaster manager Darren Moore, who explained that the front man has failed to make an impact due to injury.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club have now set their sights on finding a new team for Sterling in the second half of the season.
Negotiations have begun with multiple EFL clubs, with a fresh deal at another League One team the most likely outcome.
Jose Mourinho has no plans for Sterling, who has made two senior appearances for Spurs, to be in the senior squad for the second half of the campaign.
The Premier League giants were hoping that the forward would play regularly at Doncaster and get crucial senior experience under his belt.
But Sterling has made just four appearances in all competitions, only one of which was in the starting XI, since his arrival in the north-east.
Moore explained that was partly due to a series of niggling injuries and admitted he had hoped to be able to regularly call upon the England youth international.
Sterling spent the second half of last season on loan Sunderland, where he scored one goal in eight substitute appearances .
He has a contract at boyhood club Tottenham that runs until the summer of 2021.
In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that Jose Mourinho has shut the door on Spurs player exit as talks advance on new three-year deal.
