Tottenham: Roberto De Zerbi ‘favourite’ to be appointed the club’s next manager
Tottenham Hotspur are likely to appoint Roberto De Zerbi to become the club’s next permanent manager.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes the club could already be holding talks with candidates.
De Zerbi was sacked by French club Marseille in February after 19 months in charge following two seasons at Brighton in the Premier League.
The 46-year-old led Brighton to Europa League qualification during his first season in charge, reaching the last 16 stage in the 2023-24 campaign.
Igor Tudor will remain Spurs manager until the end of the season before the club announces a permanent successor to Thomas Frank.

VISIT THE MANAGER HUBRoberto De Zerbi ‘would make sense’ for Tottenham
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – doesn’t think there is anybody else out there for the Spurs job aside from De Zerbi.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the Italian is the “favourite” for the job.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, as you say, there’s been a lot of rumours that Spurs have already been having discussions out in the marketplace.
“Harry Redknapp even going public to say that he spoke to Daniel Levy, and he would have been called back. Well, that’s great, Harry, because no one will ever know if that was going to be the case or not.
“Good old Harry for that one. But no, think realistically, if it was to be anybody, I think De Zerbi is the favourite. And I think he would be the one that makes most sense. I don’t think there’s anybody else.”
New Pedro Porro plan amid Man City interest
Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs want to offer Pedro Porro a new contract to remain at the club at the end of the season.
Any new deal would depend on Spurs remaining in the Premier League, but the club do not want to lose the defender to Manchester City.
Man City are interested in re-signing Porro, and could take advantage of Spurs’ situation if they suffer relegation to the Championship.
