Tottenham senior ace makes big admission: If Pochettino quits, so do I
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has admitted that he would leave the club if Mauricio Pochettino ever exited White Hart Lane.
Spurs’ senior goalkeeper has revealed that his “future is linked” to the Argentinian boss and describes him as the best manager in the world right now.
“My future is linked to Pochettino’s,” Lloris told French outlet Le Figaro. “He’ll become the best manager in the world. For me he already is.”
Club captain Lloris is regarded as one of the best player at the north London club and his admission will surely concern some fans.
The 30-year-old only agreed a new deal with Spurs this season, which sees his contract expire in 2022.
However, the France international believes that he is destined to player under Pochettino, whether that be with Spurs or not.
Pochettino has become a hugely popular figure since his arrival in 2014 and has transformed Spurs into one of the leading sides in England, helping them finish third in the Premier League last season.
The tactician is currently set to stay until 2021 as he looks to build a dynasty at the club, something that a young English core of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier are helping to achieve.
However, the tough nature of the industry has proved that no manager is safe as Leicester’s title-winning boss Claudio Ranieri was sacked in February.
Pochettino’s success at Spurs has not gone unnoticed and European giants Barcelona have been linked with a move for the manager.
Spurs fans will be hoping that two of their most influential figures stay at the club for the long-term as they look to establish themselves at the top-end of the Premier League.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club’s first teamer has been placed on a summer wishlist by Manchester United.
