Tottenham set for ‘fantastic’ financial year as Stefan Borson reveals £30m Champions League boost
Tottenham Hotspur are set to record a “fantastic” financial year despite their on-field struggles this season.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Spurs are likely to earn around £30million in extra European prize money.
Tottenham won the Europa League last season under Ange Postecoglou, but the Champions League is much more financially lucrative for clubs.
The north London giants reached the last 16 of the Champions League before being knocked out by Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham’s finances will receive a healthy boost after reaching the knock-out rounds, but there is plenty of concern around their recent performances.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how Spurs are performing financially this season.
“Financially, this year is going to be fantastic for them,” said Borson.
“I think they’ve probably kept their wage bill under control.
“Obviously, they’re going to have another very poor season in terms of merit awards, unless they can put together six or seven wins between now and the of the season, which I think is unlikely, so they’re going to have another very disappointing Premier League year.
“That is going to pay them approximately what it paid them last year.”
Why Tottenham are set for European prize money boost
Borson revealed how much extra Tottenham will earn from the Champions League compared to last season’s Europa League success.
“They’ve probably done another £30m of revenue from Uefa competition, plus the matchday uplift that they may have got,” said Borson.
“It’s hard to know what that number is versus last year’s Europa League. I mean, it probably won’t be that much more, so the difference might only be £30m.
“They’ll be static on the merit awards, and then you’ve got the Uefa money and probably broadly in line on the commercial side.”
Deloitte’s 2026 Money League revealed Spurs’ turnover surged from £528m in 2023-24 to £565m last season, marking their highest-ever total.
