Tottenham ‘set sights on Omar Marmoush’ after Pep Guardiola claim
Tottenham are plotting a move to sign Man City star Omar Marmoush as they aim to bolster their attack ahead of the January transfer window.
That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his previous clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Pep Guardiola could be ready to let the 26-year-old leave in January.
Marmoush, who is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, has started just four games across all competitions after falling out of favour at the Etihad.
The form of other star players including Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden has kept him out of Guardiola’s first-team plans so far.
As a result, there have been suggestions the January 2025 arrival would be keen on a move away in search of regular first-team football if he cannot work his way back in to the City XI.

Omar Marmoush emerges as a target for Tottenham
Man City fans have raged at Marmoush’s lack of involvement so far this season, with his performances for Egypt highlighting his ability to impact games.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Tottenham are now prepared to pounce on the situation and lure the forward to North London.
“Tottenham have been looking at Marmoush,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s a move that would definitely suit them, because he can play up front and out wide, and they’re both positions they’ve been aiming to strengthen in.
“It might make sense for him too, because he’s been out of the side at Man City and at this stage he will be wanting to play every minute possible.

“I thought he was really impressive when he came in at Man City, but now they’ve added players like Cherki, and Foden and Doku are hitting top form.
“Guardiola clearly doesn’t see him as part of that starting XI any more, so he might be thinking it’s time for him to move on if an offer comes in.”
Tottenham plotting moves for more Man City stars
Marmoush is not the only Man City star on Spurs’ list of targets ahead of the January transfer window, as they remain strongly interested in Savinho.
Brown told Football Insider on 19 December that Man City could accept “huge” offers for Savinho in January given his reduced role in the side at the Etihad.
Guardiola does not see the Brazil international as a regular in his starting XI, but given the interest from clubs elsewhere, he could be tempted to look for regular minutes.

Football Insider revealed in September that Savinho could push to join Tottenham in January if he does not play an increased role in the Man City side.
Spurs remain keen to strengthen out wide in the mid-season window after missing out on key targets including the City winger late in the summer window.
