Kieran Maguire reveals how much Tottenham will save after terminating Aurier contract
Tottenham will still make a “reasonably significant” saving even if they have paid Serge Aurier to cancel his contract.
So says finance expert Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Spurs confirmed the mutual termination on 31 August.
The Ivorian right-back had just one year remaining on his contract and would have been able to leave for free next summer.

This site revealed on 30 August that Spurs hoped to find a buyer for Aurier after they agreed to sign fellow right-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona.
But Tottenham were ultimately unable to recoup a fee and agreed mutually terminate his deal.
Maguire claims that Spurs will have saved money even if they were forced to hand Aurier a pay-off.
“There will be reasonably significant benefits for the club,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Even what you might consider to be relatively minor issues like the fact they won’t have to pay for his benefits.
“For example, he won’t have access to the club physio so they’ll be able to save on medical fees.
“If they give him a pay-off, there could be some national insurance ramifications that will help the club too.

“There will be benefits in kind that he will no longer be receiving. That will allow the club to take a saving overall over the course of the season.
“If he was never going to play, you might as well get rid of him.
