Georges-Kevin N’Koudou is set for a surprise loan move to Premier League rivals Burnley, with the deal set to go through shortly, according to a report.
L’Equippe claim that the loan deal will be announced in the “coming hours”, despite Saint-Étienne trying to seal a deal for the past few weeks.
The move to Burnley comes out of the blue and will surprise Tottenham fans, although game time in the Premier League will give manager Mauricio Pochettino a good chance to judge whether he is to be a part of the future at Tottenham.
The Tottenham winger, who joined from Marseilles in the summer of 2016 for £10m, has had a stuttering start to his Spurs career.
The speed machine has made six appearances for Spurs this season, with just one start, when he played the full 90 minutes in the final Champions League game against APOEL Nicosia.
Football Insider verdict:
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has endured a strange time at Tottenham. On the face of it he seems like a player that would fit the Pochettino blueprint perfectly – young, fast and confident with the ball. But, for some reason, Pochettino obviously doesn’t think he’s the finished article. He’s had hardly any game time at Tottenham and is now obviously being sent out to test him. If he can thrive at Burnley, who are having an incredible season under Sean Dyche, he may well find himself back in favour at Spurs. However, although Spurs might not see Burnley as rivals, they’re only two spots off in the Premier League. It does seem like a slightly odd switch that might not go down too well with Spurs fans.
