Tottenham star Bryan Gil expected to complete move to Spanish club – sources

Tottenham attacker Bryan Gil is likely to return to his native Spain on a permanent basis this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that Gil, 23, is unhappy with his game time at the north London side and is eager to earn more minutes elsewhere.

Sources told Football Insider (30 March) that he and Giovani Lo Celso are not expected to be at the club at the start of next season.

Spurs denied him the chance to return to his homeland in the January transfer window, but Ange Postecoglou’s side are now expected to sanction a permanent exit.

The winger has made just 11 appearances in all competitions this season and is yet to provide a single goal contribution.

He joined Tottenham from Sevilla for a reported £21.6million in July 2021 but has only made 42 appearances in all competitions since.

Gil has been shipped out on two loans during his time at Spurs – a six-month move back to Sevilla in the second half of 2023 and another half-season spell to Valencia in 2022.

Despite his versatility, he has never managed a consistent run in the Spurs side and is yet to score his first goal for the club.

He was last handed a league start back in early December when Spurs faced Man City but has since only been given brief cameo appearances from the bench.

Tottenham are working on bringing in new signings for next season, with Football Insider revealing (29 March) that they have prioritised signing Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White and a new striker this summer.
