Tottenham star Mourinho 'loves' tipped to quit for Roma - pundit
Noel Whelan has tipped Erik Lamela to quit Tottenham to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old would be one of several players to leave north London this summer.
Football.London claim Mourinho could launch a raid for both Lamela and Lucas Moura when the summer window opens.
Tottenham are reportedly open to offers for the Argentine attacker as he heads into the final year of his contract.
Speaking in February, Mourinho admitted he “loves” Lamela and his desire to make things happen on the pitch.
Whelan suggested a return to the Italian capital could work out best for all parties.

Asked if he could see Lamela returning to Roma this summer, Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “Yeah, I think so.
“I think if you’re going to go out there as a Tottenham fan, he’s been a great servant to the club. Again, another player that’s getting to the latter stages of his career.
“They need to start freshening things up at the football club. I think, maybe, if they can start recouping a bit of money for these older players that have been there for a long time then that’s great.
“Mourinho will take him on because he’s seen him in training, he knows him as a person and you can probably get him for the right price.
“It seems like Roma are having a bit of a shake-up themselves as well in terms of players. I think that suits everybody down to the ground. I can see it now.”
Lamela joined Spurs from Roma in 2013 for an initial £25.7million fee in 2013.
He has played 257 times for the club, with 35 appearances this season.
