Tottenham 21-year-old star responds to comparisons with Premier League legend

Tottenham goalscoring sensation Dele Alli has admitted it is an honour to be compared with Premier League legend Steven Gerrard.
Alli, 21, has been in scintillating form for Tottenham this season, establishing himself as one of the most prolific goalscoring midfielders across Europe.
The England international has scored 19 goals and supplied 10 assists from 42 appearances in all competitions, earning comparisons with Premier League midfield icons Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.
Alli has now been directly involved in an incredible 40 goals for Tottenham since his debut Premier League season last term, which is more than the trio put together had achieved at this stage of their careers.
However, the Tottenham star insists there is still a long way to go, but admitted he was honoured by the comparisons with such high-profile English football figures.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s an honour to be put next to those names but I’ve still got so much to achieve before I can even start thinking I’m as good as them.
“They all did so much for their clubs and their country, I think they’re unbelievable players. For me they’re legends and people I look up to massively, so I don’t get carried away with those stats.”
Alli has thrived under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino since his move to the club from MK Dons last season.
He has scored goals with both feet, with his head, from set-pieces and spectacular volleys, including a stunning curling effort into the top corner during Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Watford last weekend.
His sumptuous form continues to draw the plaudits, with a big-money move to an elite European club like Real Madrid or Barcelona having already been talked up in the media.
More importantly, however, Alli’s contributions look set to be rewarded with a top-four finish for Tottenham and qualification for next season’s Champions League for the second consecutive campaign.
