Expert: Ryan Sessegnon facing 'huge battle' as behind-the-scenes Tottenham details emerge
Ryan Sessegnon is smart to do everything he can to return for pre-season in tip-top condition as he faces a “huge battle” with Sergio Regulion for the left-back spot at Tottenham in 2022-23.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Sessegnon, 22, has continually struggled with hamstring injuries in recent years.
The Daily Mail reported last Sunday (19 June) that the left-back has taken a personal trainer on holiday with him in order to return in peak condition ahead of 2022-23.
Dinnery hailed the youngster for his commitment to his fitness as he prepares to go head-to-head with Reguilon.
“He has been dogged with hamstring problems,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Conte is a big fan and holds him in very, very high regard. It was a relatively good year for Sessegnon in 2022. He hasn’t had the same number of hamstring issues that hampered him prior to the turn of the year.
“He will want to continue that and stay at the forefront of Conte’s thinking when it comes to selection. He’s in direct competition with Reguilon and that will be a huge battle. But if he can stay fit, the future could be bright.
“That can only happen if he looks after himself away from the pitch and does everything he can do to get ready for pre-season.”
Reguilon, 25, featured 31 times in all competitions for Spurs in 2021-22, while Sessegnon turned out 22 times.
Both players will travel with Spurs for their pre-season tour of South Korea in mid-July.
