Tottenham stars privately ‘buzzing’ after ‘incredible’ reveal today – Agbonlahor
The Tottenham squad will be privately “buzzing” they have been thrown out of the Europa Conference League, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the competition is a “shambles” and Tottenham will want no further part in it.
The club relayed a Uefa statement on Monday (20 December) confirming Spurs had forfeited their final Europa League group game with Rennes.

They were unable to fulfil the fixture because of a covid outbreak but Uefa’s ruling means Vitesse have now progressed to the knockout rounds.
As quoted by Sky Sports on Wednesday (22 December) Antonio Conte labelled the decision “incredible” and revealed Spurs may take it to the Court for Arbitration of Sport.
“I think they will be buzzing deep down, it’s a shambles of a competition,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They’ll be happy to be out of it. It’s the sort of competition, if I was a Villa player and we had to play in it, I wouldn’t be happy to play in it.
“It doesn’t even count as Europe, to be honest. The Europa League is the cut-off point.
“It’s the third-rated competition. For me, I wouldn’t want to play in it.
“Deep down, especially the players, they will be buzzing. No more Thursday trips in a shambles competition, no more of the Thursday-Sunday games.
“Everyone associated with Spurs will be happy, to be honest.”

Spurs had been held to a 2-2 draw with Rennes in the reverse fixture in September.
This is the first season the Europa Conference League has been played.
