Tottenham to axe ‘horrible’ player after what he did vs Nottingham Forest – fans explode

Tottenham fans were furious with Guglielmo Vicario after the Italian made a mistake in the build-up to Nottingham Forest’s opening goal in Saturday’s 3-0 loss.

Vicario has been linked away from Tottenham in recent weeks, with the goalkeeper sharing a complicated relationship with the fans.

Tottenham lost 2-1 to Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November, with the 29-year-old booed by the home fans for his mistake in the build-up to Harry Wilson‘s goal.

Following the game, Thomas Frank slammed the fans who had booed Vicario, labelling them “not true fans”.

But Frank is under pressure at Tottenham himself, and Sunday’s dismal performance has not helped the Dane’s case.

Tottenham fans left fuming after ‘brain dead’ moment

Many Tottenham fans would have been able to see what was coming when Vicario received the ball inside the box under some pressure.

Instead of clearing, the Italian played a short, straight pass to Archie Gray, despite the midfielder clearly being tracked by Ibrahim Sangare.

The Ivory Coast international took the ball off the youngster and squared to Callum Hudson-Odoi, who only needed to tap the ball in to hand Nottingham Forest the lead.

There would be further problems for the 29-year-old, too, with the English winger claiming his second goal just after half-time before returning the favour by assisting Sangare.

Tottenham fans expressed their frustration immediately, with one calling for Vicario to “leave this club asap”.

Another said “get him out”, with the Italian described by one fan as “bone-headed” and a “liability” elsewhere.

User Dan offered a sentiment likely shared by several fans, and said: “No matter how good a shot stopper Vicario is, his passing is shambolic and I think we have to replace him if we’re going to play out.

But another was more clear-cut in his verdict, and declared: “Enough is enough!”

Thomas Frank can make big statement by dropping Guglielmo Vicario

Frank still feels yet to truly stamp his impression on this Tottenham team, despite arriving in the summer.

The Dane’s Brentford side were among the most exciting to watch in the Premier League last season, and there is an expectation that he can have a similar effect at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But that will take time, and perhaps some big decisions from the 52-year-old. The first of which could see Vicario dropped, with the obvious replacement coming in the form of Antonin Kinsky.

The 22-year-old made six Premier League appearances last season, and could provide more quality on the ball.
