Tottenham to beat West Ham to Ivan Toney signing – expert
Tottenham could be set to pip West Ham to the signing of Ivan Toney from Brentford as the striker would prefer the move to North London.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Alan Hutton insisted that Toney could be the difference-maker in Spurs’ push for the top four in the future.
The former Tottenham defender went on to explain that the style of play under Ange Postecoglou could attract him to the club.
It was also said that, given the number of goals he has scored for Brentford, those numbers will only improve in a stronger team.
Ivan Toney prefers Tottenham transfer move ahead of West Ham
Given Tottenham’s stronger league position and potential to challenge and qualify for the Champions League, Toney could be the missing piece.
Hutton, however, suggested that the arrival of Julen Lopetegui at West Ham could provide the opportunity for the new striker to arrive.
“Maybe I’m a little bit biased here, but out of the two teams, I think he’d prefer Tottenham. Playing in that stadium and the way they play at this time,” he told Football Insider.
“It looks like Lopetegui is going to come into West Ham and could be changing things.
“Antonio is not getting any younger so maybe they’re looking for somebody else to lead the line.
“He’d score goals for both teams, in my opinion. There’s no doubt about that, he scores a barrel load at Brentford. No disrespect to them, but I think other teams will make more opportunities for him.

“I just think, at this moment in time, Tottenham look like the team that are going to be chasing the top four. I’m not saying they’re definitely going to get in there, but they’re definitely chasing.
“That could be a good opportunity for him. I think he could be the difference between getting it and not getting it in future seasons.”
