Tottenham to make ‘huge mistake’ with Adi Hutter hire as Igor Tudor sack imminent
Tottenham Hotspur should not appoint Adi Hutter as their next manager if they want to remain in the Premier League.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who says that he would appoint Roberto De Zerbi if he was at Spurs.
Interim manager Igor Tudor is close to the sack at Spurs, and candidates are emerging to replace the Croatian in north London.
Hutter, like Tudor, has zero experience in the Premier League and has been out of work since being sacked by Monaco in October 2025.
With seven Premier League matches remaining, Spurs’ next managerial decision is a crucial one, with decision makers at the club coming under increasing scrutiny for the hire of Tudor.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Chris Hughton and Robbie Keane are leading candidates to replace Tudor.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness can’t discount the club appointing Hutter, even if he believes it would be a “huge mistake.”

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Now we’ve heard all the silly Harry Redknapp ideas which I’ve got to dismiss.
“Chris Hughton is one that’s been linked very heavily, as has Robbie Keane who also wants a longer-term position, and a weird left-field one of a guy called Adi Hutter coming in from Monaco.
“I don’t pay any credence to that and that would be a huge mistake if they were to go down that route. But then again, Spurs have made some big mistakes, so let’s not discount that. There’s some possibilities, anything could happen.
“So they’re in a difficult position, but if I was them I’d be getting Roberto De Zerbi and coming to some sort of solution. If he keeps them up then he gets an extra, you know, two or three years, and if they go down then they find some way to do a break clause in some description, unless he wants to do it in the Championship, which I doubt he will.”
Spurs’ transfer plans hinge on Premier League survival
Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs face delays to their summer transfer plans due to uncertainty over whether they will remain in the Premier League.
Spurs will not be able to sign their top transfer targets if they drop down to the Championship, with Juventus striker Jonathan David having been linked with a move.
It is set to be a busy transfer window for Spurs no matter what division they are in, with the departures of star players a likely possibility.
