Tottenham told to complete amazing Federico Chiesa deal – expert

Juventus winger Federico Chiesa would be a better value option for Tottenham than Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton believes Chiesa, 26, would “fit in” to what Spurs want to do under Ange Postecoglu.

Chiesa moved to Juve from Fiorentina on an initial loan before making the switch permanent in 2022 and has scored 32 goals in 131 appearances for the club.

The winger has been deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Thiago Motta and the club are reportedly looking for a fee of £25 million for the Italy international.

Tottenham could add Chiesa for well below Eze’s asking price

Capable of playing anywhere across the front line, Chiesa played mostly as a striker for Juventus last season, scoring nine goals and getting two assists in the Serie A.

Spurs are in the market for new forwards after a disappointing Premier League campaign from Brazilain forward Richarlison in which he scored 11 goals and got four assists.

Chiesa would offer Spurs a wealth of top-level experience having just starred for Italy at Euro 2020 before being knocked out by Switzerland.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eze too, Football Insider revealed that they are battling it out with Liverpool to secure his signature (July 21).

“Of course he’s a good player”, Hutton told Football Insider.

“I mean, he fits into what they want to do, he can fill in in multiple positions, I’m pretty sure he can play number ten, he can play out wide. He can make runs in the pitch, he can make runs outside.

“He’s one of those guys where if you’re a defender, you need to constantly keep your eye on him because he’s always on the move, he’s always looking to dart in behind you.

“Of course, for that kind of price tag (£25 million), I think he’s something that they would look at instead of the likes of Eze who would be £60 million.

“I know he (Eze) can play in different positions but it seems that’s where Spurs are targeting, those wide areas where people can come in, affect the game make things happen, and score goals.

“It just depends on how much money they’ve got to spend and what other targets are they looking for, are they looking for a number nine? Is Richarlison going to leave? There is a lot of ifs and buts and moving parts.

“I suppose we just need to wait and see.”
