The Tottenham U-18s starting XI for semi-final showdown against Chelsea - Insider

By Harry Sykes

England Under-18 striker Kazaiah Sterling will spearhead Tottenham’s bid to reach the FA Youth Cup final, according to an insider.

The unofficial Tottenham academy account posted on Twitter the expected Spurs line-up for their Under-18 semi-final clash against Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Tuesday night.

Sterling, who has been tipped as star of the future by Spurs first-team manager Mauricio Pochettino, will be regarded as the dangerman by the west London club.

The centre-forward, 18, has scored four goals in five FA Youth Cup matches this season but will be unable to link up with fellow attacker, the left-winger Keanan Bennetts, who is injured.

The academy account reported on Tuesday that one 18-year-old at the club who will not be involved is Marcus Edwards, the jewel in the Spurs youth set-up who is “deemed too good for this level”.

Edwards played the full 90 minutes for Tottenham Under-23s in their 4-0 demolition of Reading in Premier League 2 on Monday night.

Spurs’ Under-18s showdown against Chelsea is a two-legged affair, with Tuesday’s first leg starting at 7.15pm and set to be broadcast on ITV4.

The academy account has a growing reputation as a reliable source of Spurs news, and has broken a number of stories about youth-team players and coaches at the club, including the revelation last summer that Edwards had committed to a new White Hart Lane deal and in January that centre-back Anton Walkes had agreed a transfer to the MLS.

In other Tottenham news, a forward has signed after Spurs agreed terms on an out-of-window deal.
