‘Tottenham want top new striker in three-man signing plan’
Tottenham will be kicking off their summer transfer business with a boost after qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Spurs earned a £100million place in the competition after beating Man United in the Europa League and are now expected to strengthen their squad.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side struggled through an injury crisis in the 2024-25 campaign and eventually finished 17th in the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (28 May) that Tottenham are preparing to ramp up crunch talks with Postecoglou in the coming days as his future hangs in the balance.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed signing a new striker will be a key part of Tottenham’s transfer plans.

Tottenham could sign Solanke upgrade, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Tottenham need “two or three top signings” to compete in the Champions League – with midfield reinforcements also likely to be on the agenda.
Dominic Solanke is currently the first-choice striker at Spurs after arriving from Bournemouth in a £65million deal last summer.
However, Wyness suggested Tottenham may already explore signing an upgrade on the England international.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “They’re going to need a big summer, to a degree.
“They’ll have to strengthen the squad.
“It’s going to have to be high-quality additions, that’ll be the focus. I think they have a good squad when they are all fit.
“But for the Champions League, they need two or three top signings.
“In particular, I think they’ll be looking at a striker and two more midfielders.
“That’s what they’ll be looking at and they’ll have to move this summer.
“Champions League football will be tough for them, but they’d rather be in it than not.
“With players like Van de Ven, you can see the difference when he comes back in. The squad isn’t bad, as I say, but they need quality to make a mark next season.”

Postecoglou could get £7m sack payout
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (29 May) that Postecoglou could be set to receive a £7million payout if he is sacked as Tottenham manager.
He is understood to be in line for a £2million bonus after winning the Europa League final against Man United last week (21 May).
The 59-year-old is understood to earn around £5million a year, with his deal set to run until June 2027 – and could get one year of salary if he is dismissed.
