Tottenham will overtake Chelsea and Arsenal next season as £100m spree mooted - pundit

Antonio Conte will lead Tottenham to a third-placed finish next season if he is backed this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ summer plans.

Tottenham are firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish after Arsenal lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace on Monday (4 April).

Spurs were ninth when Conte, 52, replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of November.

The Italian’s side are in fine form and made it five wins from six games as they hammered Newcastle 5-1 last weekend (3 April).

Kenny has been blown away by Tottenham’s improvement and claimed they will get even better if Conte is allowed to spend this summer.

“Kulusevski and Bentancur have been great signings, Tottenham need more of that,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You have to back Conte now, he has done so well in such a short space of time.

“So, give him the summer and let him bring his own guys in. That, tied with a full pre-season, will make Tottenham a force next year.

“They won’t get to the level of Liverpool or Man City, that’s too much to ask.

“But based on how they have been playing recently, they could easily be the best of the rest.

“They look better than Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal and they are only going to get better.

“Let him spend £100million on the players he wants and I think that third spot is theirs”

Tottenham face Arsenal at home on 12 May.

The game was originally set to be played in January but the Gunners requested the game to be postponed due to a lack of players.
