Besiktas think they can agree a deal with Rangers to sign Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos for a bargain €2million (£1.7million), according to a report.
Turkish website Fanatik, reports that the Eagles believe a deal for the 21-year-old a year after the Gers signed him from HJK Helsinki for £1million.
Morelos ended the season as the Gers’ joint-top goalscorer with 18 goals to his credit and was the subject of an £8million bid from Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe in January.
Football Insider verdict:
£1.7million for Morelos is absolutely laughable and the Gers should tell Besiktas they will need to drastically increase their valuation of the Colombian if they want a deal to be done. While it’s unlikely the £8million on offer from Beijing will reappear this summer, Morelos should still attract some decent bids this summer. If not, then he’s more than welcome to stay at Rangers and build on the 18 goals he scored in his debut season. The Gers don’t need to sell, and it’s not as if Morelos is someone who isn’t likely to play, and at only 21 Morelos should continue to improve as a striker. If Besiktas do come up with a good offer then it may well be worth selling Morelos and reinvesting in the squad but with less than £2million on the table then it would be silly to sell him at this point. Unless Gerrard has a particular plan for who he wants in to replace Morelos then it would be a backwards step to weaken the side without a replacement or a healthy transfer fee. </em
