Twitter pans cringey Tottenham duo after new celebration is unveiled

By Harry Sykes

Harry Kane and Dele Alli unveiled a new celebratory handshake during Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Everton on Sunday – and football fans on Twitter panned it as “cringey”.

Spurs’ star duo produced the elaborate handshake, which ended with a little wriggle of the fingers, following Harry Kane’s fine opener in Sunday’s clash at White Hart Lane.

Kane, who scored twice, and Alli, who added the home side’s third with a neat flick, then recreated the special handshake at full-time.

The reaction from social media was marked by scepticism, with many describing it as wince-inducing and telling the England pair to save it for the training ground.

Both players have had plenty of opportunity to celebrate goals in recent months, with their goalscoring being at the heart of Spurs’ impressive league form.

Kane’s double against Everton took him to the top of the Premier League scoring charts with 19 goals from 22 matches in the competition.

Alli has also been prolific from his attacking midfield position, netting 15 goals in all competitions, 13 of which have come in the English top flight.

Spurs’ win against Everton kept the title race alive, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side narrowing the gap on Chelsea to seven points.
