Kyle Walker has reportedly agreed a new £75,000 per-week Tottenham contract – and fans have claimed on Twitter it is well deserved.

The Sun report that the England defender has settled the terms of a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane in a deal worth a total £19.5million.

Walker, 26, joined the north Londoners from Sheffield United in 2009 and has developed into one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League.

Supporters took the opportunity to praise Walker on his new deal with some even describing him as the best right-back in Europe.

Here are a collection of some of the messages on Twitter:

Walker is the second senior player to agree terms at Tottenham this week after Christian Eriksen concluded a year of talks by singing a new four-year contract on Tuesday.

The defender was part of the strongest defence in England’s top-flight last season, conceding just 35 goals in 38 matches.

Walker plays alongside Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose in the Spurs back line and the defensive unit have already kept two clean sheets this season, against Crystal Palace and Stoke in the league.

Back-up defender Kieran Trippier is still waiting for an opportunity to impress in the first team after being an understudy to Walker since joining from Burnley, but could get his chance this season with the club’s busy fixture list from both European and domestic competitions.

In other Tottenham transfer news, a manager has revealed what it will cost the club to sign this summer forward target in January.
