Two Celtic big names could now leave after deal agreed – expert
Marco Tilio’s arrival could spell the end for Liel Abada or James Forrest at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie suggested that the arrival of another right-sided winger could mean there will be exits.
On 30 June, the Celts confirmed the arrival of Australian international Tilio on a five-year deal.
The 21-year-old is the second signing under Brendan Rodgers after he replaced Ange Postecoglou as manager.
Despite Jota’s exit for Saudi Arabia, Rodgers still has several attacking options to choose from for next season.
On the left side there is Sead Haksabanovic, Daized Maeda and Mikey Johnston and James Forrest and Liel Abada can be used on the right.
Abada’s current contract at Parkhead runs until 2026, with Forrest’s deal set to expire in 2025.
Although Tilio is predominantly a right-sided winger, he has experience playing on the left as well as through the middle.
When asked how Rodgers might use the Australian given his ability to play along the front line, McAvennie told Football Insider: “It depends if Liel Abada is going.
“I am assuming Brendan has been told these are the players that Celtic have been going for and asked for his opinion and he would say yes or no.

“But if he is coming in maybe that means Abada is going. There is a lot of talk that he could be leaving.
“Forrest has been a great servant but he is coming to the end of his time.“
