Tyler Denton delivers Twitter reaction as former Leeds teammate finds new club

By Will Butcher

Tyler Denton has revealed his delight after former Leeds star Robbie McDaid signed for York City.

The Northern Ireland Under-21s international has been looking for a new club after being released by the Yorkshire giants this summer.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, left-back Denton was euphoric at seeing his former teammate find a new club after three months without one.

McDaid, who signed for Leeds back in 2014 from Northern Irish side Glenavon, will now be looking to lead York City’s attack as Gary Mills’ side look to avoid relegation from the National League.

The 20-year-old forward failed to make an appearance for Leeds, but was a prominent figure in both their Under-18s and reserve side during his time at Elland Road.

With the likes of Chris Wood, Souleymane Doukara and Marcus Antonsson ahead of McDaid in the pecking order, it was always going to be a tall order for the striker to break into Garry Monk’s first team.

Former teammate Denton has done exactly that, though, after signing a new contract with the former Champions League side.

Making his first-team debut for Leeds earlier beforehand, the left-footer struck the only goal of the game with an audacious effort from the outside of the area against League Two side Luton Town in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Denton, whose agent is Leeds legend Ian Harte, has failed to feature since for Monk’s side.

In other Leeds news, this goal machine has sent a message to Monk after scoring an impressive brace on Tuesday.
