Tyrone Mings sends three-word Aston Villa message after Liverpool controversy

Tyrone Mings took to social media to send a message to Aston Villa fans after their 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool on Wednesday (February 19).

The 31-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Unai Emery’s side failed to hold on to their lead, leaving them winless in their last five Premier League games.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Youri Tielemans bagged the equaliser in the 38th with a fine volley after some pinball in the Liverpool box.

Ollie Watkins gave Aston Villa the lead just before the break but Trent Alexander-Arnold had other ideas, restoring parity and ending the game 2-2.

The match was an end-to-end thriller and, for the second consecutive midweek for Arne Slot’s side, was not without a significant dose of controversy.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett believes Axel Disasi was lucky not to be given his marching orders after appearing to lash out at Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister wasn’t without blame, however, committing a “clear holding offence” for which Hackett slammed referee Craig Pawson.

The defender has struggled with injury this season, starting 11 of his 13 games across all competitions, and failing to provide a goal contribution in his 1013 minutes of action.

Mings returned from injury for their 1-1 draw with Ipswich after damaging his knee in Villa’s 1-1 Premier League draw with West Ham earlier in the season, although it’s not said to be ‘serious’.

He has suffered several serious knee injuries, tearing his ACL for the first time while at Bournemouth back in 2015, ruling him out for 388 days, and then again in 2023 at Villa, forcing him to miss 446 days.

He took to Instagram after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool to rally the troops, and let the fans know that “We keep pushing.”

Emery’s side remain in contention for European football once the season ends despite failing to win in their last five league games, sitting in ninth with 39 points from their 26 games.

Villa will face fellow strugglers Chelsea in the late kick-off on Saturday (February 22) with both in desperate need of a win.
