Danny Mills claimed that “surprise” Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is “underrated”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Whites defender revealed he felt Klich was underrated as people don’t acknowledge that he rarely has a bad game.
Klich has played 21 times this season for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and has contributed four goals as well as one assist in the process.
Mills explained that the 29-year-old central midfielder would have better assist stats if his teammates were more clinical.
When asked if Klich’s contribution is underrated as he creates lots of chances, but doesn’t have many assists, Mills told Football Insider: “You can create as many chances as you want, but players ultimately have to be there to put it in the back of the net.
“I think as long as you keep creating, it’s not a problem, up until the last few games, Bamford had a bit of a drought.
“Leeds haven’t been as clinical as they should have been, hence why his numbers probably aren’t as high as they should be.
“But Mateusz Klich is one of those players I feel is underrated at times, he very rarely has a bad game.
“He works very hard, certainly he has a turn of pace which surprises a few from time to time.”
Klich has played a grand total of 81 times for the Whites after joining the club Dutch side FC Twente in 2017.
The midfielder is contracted to stay put at Elland Road until 2024 after signing a contract extension in November 2019.
