Victor Osimhen to Liverpool claim made amid Darwin Nunez uncertainty
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been outlined as a strong option for Liverpool amid the uncertainty surrounding Darwin Nunez’s future.
Osimhen helped Napoli win the 2022/23 Serie A title by notching 26 goals in 32 appearances in the Italian top flight that season.
However, the Nigeria international did not help Antonio Conte’s men in their 2024/25 title-winning success, instead enjoying a loan spell with Galatasaray.
Osimhen scored 37 goals in 41 appearances for the Istanbul giants, helping them pip bitter rivals Fenerbahce to top spot.

Liverpool told Osimhen would be ‘unbelievable’ at Anfield
Manchester United are interested in signing Osimhen, while Napoli could be keen to part company with the forward this summer.
Meanwhile, Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer, and the Uruguay international’s departure would hand Arne Slot scope to buy a new striker.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [11 June], Ally McCoist suggested that Osimhen may not want to join Man United and added: “I think Osimhen would be absolutely perfect at somewhere like Liverpool.
“I think he’d be unbelievable at Liverpool.”

Osimhen could be a top acquisition for Slot
Liverpool performed admirably well in Slot’s first season in the North West, winning the Premier League title by April and scoring 14 more goals than anyone else in the top flight.
Premier League table (Top two) | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1 Liverpool | 38 | 45 | 84 |
2 Arsenal | 38 | 35 | 74 |
However, while the Reds are a free-scoring team, an out-and-out striker could be the final piece in the jigsaw for Slot as the Dutchman looks to win more silverware next term.
The Merseyside giants were overly reliant on winger Mohamed Salah, who notched a remarkable return of 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances last season.
Osimhen would make Slot’s attack all the more dangerous, and he should be able to adjust to the Premier League, having previously succeeded in both Serie A and French Ligue 1 during his stint with former club Lille.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also interested in Hugo Ekitike, who scored 22 goals in 48 appearances for Frankfurt last season, helping them finish third in the Bundesliga.
Elsewhere, Ian Darke tipped Andy Robertson to leave Anfield this summer in a Liverpool News 247 exclusive.
