Vinnie Jones makes huge claim about players Monk will sign at Leeds next year

Vinnie Jones has claimed that Garry Monk will sign some some “great players” at Leeds next year.

The former Swansea manager had a difficult start to life at Elland Road but has turned things around over the last month amid huge pressure.

Leeds have won five of their last six matches, including four out of five league games, and have risen to the top half of the Championship table.

Monk’s side sit 11th in the Championship table after beating Barnsley 2-1 last weekend.

Jones, who spent 18 months at Elland Road after joining from Wimbledon in 1989, is convinced that the Yorkshire club could be in with a chance of finally experiencing some success under Monk.

“One of the best things the chairman has done is put Garry up there,” Jones told talkSPORT. “I’ve told the fans as well to give Garry time. He’s going to organise that place.

“Just as long as they don’t interfere upstairs I think Garry will get it right, he’s going to bring some great players in. They’ve got the lad [Chris] Wood there who’s banging in some goals.

“I’ve still got some very good friends up in Leeds and I speak to them very often and the crowds will start coming back soon with the buzz around the town.

“It’s the best place on the planet to be when things are going well and there’s a full crowd up there.”

Monk signed 11 new players during the summer window, many of them on loan, during a major overhaul of the playing squad.

Some of the signings have started to make a major impact, most notably on-loan quartet Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley, Hadi Sacko and Pablo Hernandez.

In other Leeds transfer news, Neil Redfearn has delivered a scathing verdict on an Elland Road signing.
