Virgil van Dijk, Richarlison react to message from Tottenham ace Dominic Solanke

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Tottenham striker Richarlison have reacted to a message from Dominic Solanke on social media.

Ange Postecoglou’s days at Tottenham seem numbered, and a loss against Eintracht Frankfurt would have almost been his last act as Spurs boss.

However, when he needed it most, his players stepped up and delivered a hard-fought 1-0 win over the German side, progressing through to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Cristian Romero delivered an indomitable performance for Tottenham, as Solanke scored a penalty for the away side, following Postecoglou’s decision to switch takers at the last second.

Following the win over Frankfurt, Solanke shared an image to social media, captioned: “The Road to Bilbao continues”.

The post was then liked by Liverpool‘s Van Dijk, and the Englishman’s teammate Richarlison, with the Europa League final set to take place in Bilbao on 21 May.

Both players faced uncertain futures with their respective clubs recently, but the Reds’ defender has recently agreed a new two-year deal with his club.

Richarlison continues to be linked with a move away from Tottenham, having struggled to settle since joining in 2022.

Tottenham face dangerous opponents Bodo/Glimt in Europa League semi-final

Football Insider Verdict

Tottenham‘s opponents, Bodo/Glimt are relative unknown’s in the European scene, but their style of football will undoubtedly cause issues for Spurs.

Becoming the first Norweigan side to qualify for a European semi-final, Kjetil Knutsen’s side play a fast and direct style of football that has caught off guard some of the continent’s most renowned teams.

The 56-year-old was linked with Brighton last summer, before Fabian Hurzeler joined, and his playstyle was described by the club’s captain, Ulrik Satnes, as “kamikaze” football.

Lazio, Olympiacos, Besiktas, Braga and Porto have all fallen at the hands of the team based in the Arctic Circle, whilst Man United squeezed through as 3-2 winners when they met in September.

Tottenham will undoubtedly be favourites going into their tie against Bodo/Glimt, but will have to be wary, as their opposition have proven themselves capable of dishing out upsets to teams that underestimate them.
