'Virgil van who?' - Celtic fans rave about mainstay after international display

Celtic fans have taken to social media to praise Kristoffer Ajer after he made a successful international debut for Norway.

The 19-year-old, who has been a mainstay for the Hoops recently, playing the last 18 matches for the club, played the entire 90 minutes of the friendly v Australia on Friday night, which Norway won 4-1.

After Ajer took to his personal Twitter account to reveal his delight at his performance, Celtic fans were quick to offer their congratulations to a player who has become a big player in recent months.

“Great feeling to get my first game and win for Norway,” Ajer said.

Ajer has made huge progress for the Hoops since replacing Jozo Simunovic in the Hoops defence following the 4-0 loss to Hearts in December.

His performances are all the more remarkable when you consider that he hasn’t had a regular centre-back partner during his run in the first-team.

With the Hoops looking to clinch an unprecedented second consecutive domestic treble, Ajer is set to be a key player for the Bhoys until the end of the season.
