Watch: Mertesacker reacts hilariously to question about Wenger future at Arsenal

By Danny Wright

Per Mertesacker had a hilarious reaction when he was asked a question about Arsene Wenger’s future while he was sat right next to him.

The 32-year-old was alongside Wenger at a press conference on Monday ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League round of 16 second leg clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

When the Arsenal club captain was asked if all the players remained in full support of Wenger, the Frenchman was quick to shut down the journalist before his player could answer the question which prompted the German centre-back to snigger like a school boy next to his headmaster.

Mertesacker has missed the entirety of this season with a serious knee injury but has been back in training with this teammates since December.

There has been an increased amount of speculation as to whether Wenger will remain in the Emirates hot seat next season.

Following Saturday’s loss to Liverpool and a reported training ground row with star player Alexis Sanchez, fans and pundits alike have decided that it is time for the 67-year-old to call an end to his 21-year stay at the club.

The 3-1 loss to the Reds forced Wenger’s side out of the top four of the Premier League and if they were to finish where they are now, it would be the first time in Wenger’s reign that the Gunners have failed to qualify for the Champions League.

In other Arsenal news, supporters have reacted on Twitter after news broke that this 28-year-old is set to miss the Bayern Munich clash.
