Experienced attacker Wayne Rooney has posted his delight on Instagram after making his Goodison Park return on Thursday evening.
The 31-year-old featured for the Toffees in a competitive match for the first time since leaving in 2004 on Thursday as they hosted Ruzomberok for a Europa League first leg tie.
Rooney started the match for Ronald Koeman’s team, playing the full 90 minutes as Everton ran out 1-0 victors through a goal from Leighton Baines.
Now, on Friday morning Rooney has posted on his personal Instagram account that it was a “fantastic feeling” to be back at Goodison and that he is now excited for the rest of the season.
Rooney made his return to Everton earlier in the month, signing a two-year deal and was allowed to leave Manchester United on a free transfer.
He is so far one of seven new signings for the Toffees this summer and it is looking to be an exciting season for the club as they look to go far in Europe, while also pushing on from last campaign’s seventh placed finish.
Rooney, meanwhile will be will be hoping to continue his success on Mersesyide which saw him win five Premier Leagues, a Champions League and a Europa League trophy at Manchester United alongside many more accolades.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are still looking to make three more transfers this summer.
