Wayne Rooney slams Nottingham Forest ownership amid ‘crazy’ Ange Postecoglou sack rumours

Wayne Rooney has hit out at Nottingham Forest, as manager Ange Postecoglou faces growing pressure just seven games into his managerial reign.

Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle continued Postecoglou’s winless streak since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.

Postecoglou was being called to be sacked at Nottingham Forest by fans, who believe the club is on a downward spiral under his leadership.

The former Spurs boss admitted he would be having talks with owner Evangelos Marinakis, with the international break providing a chance for the Australian to work with his squad.

Wayne Rooney believes Ange Postecoglou deserves time at Nottingham Forest

Speaking on the Wayne Rooney Show [6 October], the former Manchester United striker is staggered by suggestions that Postecoglou could lose his job.

“It’s crazy all the rumours you’re hearing is Ange could be sacked, he’s had six, seven games, its absolutely crazy,” Rooney said.

I like Ange I think he’s a good manager, he struggled in the league with Tottenham last season and then he won the Europa League and it was strange Nuno getting sacked at Forest and they brought Ange in.

I don’t hear anyone talking about the ownership and the decisions they’re making, there the ones making the decisions so someone has to be responsible for hiring him.

He’s been unlucky, the Forest fans really liked Nuno and it doesn’t look like they’re willing to give Ange the time.”

Nuno has since been appointed West Ham manager after leading the club to a seventh placed finish and qualification to European football last season.

Postecoglou not improving Nottingham Forest as daunting fixtures loom

Postecoglou has made a horror start to life at the City Ground, with zero wins from seven games which included matches against Championship side Swansea, two promoted clubs and Midtjylland – who only narrowly beat Hibs in Europa League qualifying.

Nottingham Forest‘s defensive stability under Nuno has been lost, with Newcastle registering an expected goals of 3.28 last time out.

Going forward, Postecoglou’s attacking style has yet to emerge, with back-to-back Premier League matches where the Tricky Trees have failed to score.

After the international break, Chelsea and Porto at home and Bournemouth away does not provide Postecoglou with much respite.
