'Weak link in our team' - Tottenham fans slate key player after win against Leicester

By Amir Mir

Tottenham secured a comprehensive 6-1 win against Leicester City on Thursday night – and fans on Twitter have slated Hugo Lloris for his mistake.

Mauricio Pochettinio’s side were leading the match 2-0 in the second half when goalkeeper Lloris decided to rush out of his penalty area.

Lloris did very well in tackling the ball off Jamie Vardy but moments after his tackle Ben Chilwell pulled one back for the home side.

Many Spurs fans weren’t too pleased with Lloris, with one supporter calling him the “weak link in our team”.

Added to that, another supporter referred to his mistake as a “howler” and believes the Frenchman has had too many of them this term.

Lloris has kept 15 clean sheets this season and has been a key player for Pochettino’s side, who have the best defensive record in the Premier League.

The Frenchman is a typical modern day keeper and is known as a sweeper keeper where he likes to rush out of his penalty area to stop on-rushing attackers from scoring.

One fan pointed out that he is a top player but believes his distribution is very poor, while another supporter suggested that he panics when Lloris rushes out of his box.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Striker Harry Kane scored a remarkable four goals during the match, with Son Heung-Min adding the two other goals.

Lloris has played 33 Premier League matches for his North London side this season, securing 15 clean sheets during those games.

From an individual standpoint, he has the chance to finish the season off on a high when his team travel to already-relegated Hull at the weekend.
