Tottenham boss

Gabriel Agbonlahor has insisted Tottenham attacker Gedson Fernandes still has a future at the club because of Dele Alli’s situation.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 74-goal ex-Premier League striker suggested Jose Mourinho will not let both players leave the club this month.

Fernandes made the bench ahead of Dele for Spurs’ 3-1 win over Sheffield United on Sunday but did not make it onto the pitch.

It was just the third time this season the 22-year-old has made a Premier League matchday squad but he is yet to feature.

The Benfica loanee looked destined for a return to Portugal after Jose Mourinho hinted in November the club were willing to let him leave.

Meanwhile, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports Alli is pushing to leave Tottenham and wants to be reunited with Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain.

Asked by Football Insider whether Alli’s potential exit could mean Fernandes stays in north London until the end of the season, Agbonlahor said: “100 per cent.

“I don’t think he’d let both of them go. But you just don’t understand it do you?

“You look at Dele Alli and his performance in his last game in the FA Cup, he’s done well. Jose Mourinho’s buzzing off him and then he leaves him out of the squad all together. It’s very strange.

“I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of it soon and Dele Alli leaves.”

Fernandes moved to Spurs on an 18-month loan last summer with an option to buy for £43million.

However, he has not lived up to his promise at the club and is still yet to start a Premier League game.

In other news, West Brom have been tipped by Paul Robinson to sign a Spurs player he would love at Leeds United.
