Arsene Wenger: This is why Everton are such a difficult opponent
By Emma Sanders
Arsene Wenger has claimed Goodison Park’s atmosphere keeps his players on their toes and he is anticipating a hostile atmosphere ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Everton on Tuesday evening.
The two teams go head-to-head in the late mid-week kick off with Arsenal hoping to secure a victory and consolidate their second placed position in the Premier League table.
Wenger admitted he expected a “difficult” game against the Toffees despite their lack of form in recent weeks and stated the history of the club helps build an atmosphere in the stadium.
“We prepare well, always,” said Wenger, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
“It’s always a very difficult ground. It’s a ground where you have a soul and a history and certainly that keeps us on alert.”

The head-to-head statistics are not in Everton’s favour, with the Gunners only suffering defeat once in their last 19 games against the Blues.
Everton go into the clash on the back of just one victory in their last 10 games and a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Watford on Saturday.
Ronald Koeman’s side have not won since October and they will be hoping to pick up a win against Arsenal at Goodison Park for the first time in two years.
The last victory came in 2014 during a 3-0 result against Arsenal and Everton are in need of all three points after slumping down to ninth place in the table following poor performances in recent weeks.
