Wenger opens the door to Everton to sign reported 23-year-old target

Everton’s chances of signing Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac has received a huge boost as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed that his side have not agreed to sign the 23-year-old, as was previously reported.
Sky Sports reported yesterday on their transfer blog that Everton are one of a number of leading clubs who have offered the 23-year-old a contract.
This comes despite the fact Reprezentacija reported earlier this month that Arsenal had agreed a contract with the Schalke starlet.
But Wenger has finally had his say on the speculation and speaking in the Daily Express, he rubbished the claims that his side has agreed a deal with Kolasinac, possibly opening the door for Everton to sign the 23-time Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
He said: “Nothing [has been done]. We can deny that story at the moment.

“Nothing has been concluded with anybody. I think it is important we do not talk about transfers.”
Kolasinac has made 31 league and cup appearances for Schalke this season and has scored three goals and provided seven assists.

Everton have been handed a huge boost following these comments from Arsenal’s boss. The move for Kolasinac now looks very much on, but with only one year left on his contract they will have to move swiftly to acquire his services. The left-back position at the Toffees has been long filled by Leighton Baines, but the former England star turns 33 later this year and Ronald Koeman may fancy a fresh set of legs on the left of his defence. In many ways it could be a like for like switch as Kolasinac is known in Germany for his attacking play, as Baines is in England.
