Wenham pleads with Tottenham fans over Nuno after 'damaging' Athletic reveal today

Tottenham fans must not turn on Nuno Espirito Santo and should not be calling for his head.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Today (4 October) The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported Tottenham can sack Nuno and not pay him compensation if the club finishes outside the to six this season.

However, in the report, it was stated a club spokesperson said the information regarding the reported clause was “wrong and untrue”.

Nuno only signed a two-year deal when he joined the club in the summer.

Wenham insists this report can only damage Spurs and pleaded with fans to give Nuno time.

“It doesn’t scream confidence,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We know he was the seventh or eighth choice, that always gave me caretaker vibes anyway.

“He’s only on a two-year contract and maybe the players don’t respect him. I don’t know but it wouldn’t fill me with confidence as a player.

“I want to see Nuno given a chance. I would plead with Tottenham fans and just say give Nuno some time.

“Reports like this cant’t help, it can only damage us. People get the idea that Tottenham will just get rid of him at the end of the season no matter what.

“He needs time to work with Paratici. We are still in the cups and two points off the top four. One win after the international break makes us look really good.

“A few more wins and confidence will be high again. I can’t stress enough, we need to give Nuno time. I don’t like those reports.”
